(It looks like these are duplicate directories anyway, and probably one of them should be deleted).

This seems to be a common formatting error in a number of places (missing spaces around NNN-up and NNN-down), which prevents tunnel from loading it. Survex handles it, but it's definitely not right, and looks like something that was caused by a script running over the data and rewriting it.

Ah, nice find + bug dissection! These errors are there from the instantiation of git. I'll see if I can find the old SVN repo to see who to blame!

I agree it looks like someone applied some kind of shell script to delete all the compass readings from the +-/90 clino legs, to squash those survex warnings. This has been a perennial issue of relatively novice surveyors assuming they should at least try and give a compass direction for the general development of the cave.
