Create a reputation program to incentivize non-developer community #54

  1. People can give “reputation” points for those who have built a great integration, who helped solve a problem, helped with a design, bug reports, improved documentation, etc.
    • Categorize points by area, so someone can be #25 overall but be #1 tester, for instance.
  2. Encompasses a wider array of contributions, incentivizing not just developers but everyone in the community to contribute
  3. HackerOne example https://www.hackerone.com/blog/introducing-reputation
  4. Other naming ideas: “Status points”
  5. Monthly prizes to incentivize people to continue contributing?
    • Perhaps prizes that increase the more time you’re a top contributor; e.g. first time you get stickers, second time a shirt, etc.

What is the incentive of doing this? It kind of kills the "we are all the same" feeling of open source projects.

Same idea as in StackOverflow, and to incentivize different kinds of contributions, rather than just focused on PRs.
