I am having the same problem. Have you found a fix?
There are a few things that have changed over the years:
To address this stuff, I am looking at automating the building of AppleTalk-enabled kernels as well as netatalk 2.x packages for the major distros and publishing that stuff in a contrib repo. At least for Debian/Ubuntu/Raspbian, this shouldn't be too bad. If somebody knows of another place that is already doing such a thing, that would be awesome.
Things have changed for the better in recent years! Debian/Raspbian supports AppleTalk out of the box again since Buster. Also, we recently released Netatalk 2.2.7 that works with modern distros.
What would it take to get netatalk2
into contrib repos? I'd be happy to help out, but have no experience in this area.
It appears not to build for me on stretch at least. I think some headers have changed.
