I would like to be able to disable backups sometimes too. Have it as an option
in the
Confirm Delete alert box maybe.

Nice idea on Confirm dialog.

Well, if the autobackup enable/disable setting will be added, may I suggest
that it
would have two separate settings - for file deletion, and file overwrite.
Because I
really find a backup function useful for overwriting the files

i desperately need this function.
i got 15gb of files i need to delete because of a sync interruption mess up.

i got to 10gb when the programmed messed up during backup and none of the files
even
got deleted :\

I agree - I had a sync-interruption corrupt ~12 GB of music files as well
(showed up
as "other" in itunes with no way of deleting or getting rid of it). I used
iphonebrowser to fix this, and it worked wonderfully, but as it required
backing up
of the corrupted files, it made it into a much harder task than it could've
been.
When I first tried it, it kept running into an error message before the
deletion
completed. The cause of this, I realized, was that I only had 10GBs of memory
free
on my laptop HD, with 12GBs of music on my iphone. The program would crash
right
about when my laptop HD space reached 0 (another problem that should be
addressed,
maybe with a function that checks the amount of HD space available before
initiating
a backup).

What I ended up doing was deleting the individual sub-folders of the "Music"
Folder,
and because the program doesn't have the option to select more than one folder,
either via dragging the mouse over several or holding ctrl or shift while
clicking
several, I had to right-click and individually delete ~20 folders, then delete
their
backups. When I had enough room on my HD to delete what was left, I deleted the
entire folder. This fixed the problem completely, but took about a day and a
half of
me occasionally checking its progress and re-deleting folders.

I realize its my fault the files were corrupt, and my fault that I couldn't
free up
more than 10 GBs of HD space (pathetic, I know), so I am not criticizing this
program, which saved me from having to reformat my iphone (thank you!), but if
you
were to fix the issues I mentioned, I think it would vastly improve the utility
of
this program and help a lot of people. Also, anyone else going through the
same
process of getting rid of a corrupt music folder, what I did was rename the
folder
under "iTunes_Control" called "Music" to "Broken Music", deleted it, then
resynced,
and it automatically created a new "Music" folder.

Thanks for reading this long post, and good luck.

The exact problem as detailed above is currently what I am in the midst of -
11GB of
corrupt music files, of which i shall have to delete each individual as back up
is
soo slow. There should be an overall option to turn off backup. Thanks.

I just had the same issue... found it was faster just to reset my iphone and
reload
everything. While I understand the idea behind this I really wish there was
some way
to just disable it.

Also, the backup unnecessarily slows down the transfer process, all my files
are
generally backed up on my computer anyways, so there should be a way to disable
this
to save time.

Version 1.90 now supports disabling backups for the current run or as a default.

Well, if we knew, where these backups are stored, we can just delete them...

Anybody know which folder they are stored in?

Use the File menu to view the backup files in Windows Explorer, upgrade to the
latest version to disable
automatic backups (not recomended).
