first annotation works, the later annotations not

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. use the demo page or the static demo
2. select text, click on arrow and annotate
3. select some text again, click on arrow - no annotation

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
nothing, no error neither

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.
I can delete existing annotations (on the web demo) though.
Maybe is it because of the static form? Is it possible it will be ok when
moved to the database? (I just wanted to test before porting it to Drupal)

Btw. it might be useful to include the example xml file with the demo download

This is probably a bug in the static Marginalia implementation, which I haven't 
been
using for testing.  As to the lack of an error, see
