Bug Description

I have a very simple Open Document Spreadsheet (.ods) file that I want to analyse. I read in "The Guide For Students" that JASP is able to open this type of file, but when when viewed in JASP the data is not as expected - there are gaps in the rows. Maybe this because the file has two worksheets? I would 2 Proportion Test.ods

Expected Behaviour

I expected JASP to open the .ods file and present me with data correctly presented. I even expected to be able to view data from multiple sheets.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open .ods file
  2. Review data to find it's not what expected. Open in Excel to see the difference.

@RNE365 Interesting! I cannot replicate on flatpak / linux: image

RNE365 commented 4 months ago

Hello there. Why test on Linux when the issue is on Windows? In answer to your question, everything is up to date. Thanks

@RNE365https://github.com/RNE365 Interesting! I cannot replicate on flatpak / linux: image.png (view on web)https://github.com/jasp-stats/jasp-issues/assets/4428185/981c6248-adb9-4b4c-ab46-0264b01d78a0

What happens if you save the ODS locally instead of on onedrive? What happens with CSVs? Are win10 and excel completely updated?

Others will test on win. I only have linux here. I test on it to narrow down varibles. Now we know it might be win only.

shun2wang commented 3 months ago

Yes, confirmed that can be reproduced.

RensDofferhoff commented 3 months ago

Very interesting that this doesnt happen on linux. Its a standard format so you wouldn't assume line ending differences to matter

RensDofferhoff commented 3 months ago

Also occurs on Mac

RensDofferhoff commented 3 months ago

Saving this file once with libreoffice fixes the issues. So with what software was this ods file created?

shun2wang commented 3 months ago

@RensDofferhoff change the .ods as .zip and we will find some meta info in the files😉 like document version and generator.

RensDofferhoff commented 3 months ago

ooh great tip! excel 2016

tomtomme commented 3 months ago

So this is a "wont fix" probably since ODS support in Excel 2016 was fairly buggy? I know from my own experience.

And msiX installed jasp has the same problem?

RensDofferhoff commented 3 months ago

I will do some more tests

Office 2016 is still supported.... "Mainstream support ended on October 13, 2020, and extended support for most editions of Office 2016 will end on October 14, 2025, the same day as Win10"
