If we can get JZ to buy the hardware - a map of the locale and iBeacon support?

Not a chance in .....
...heaven? ;)
For 2015, we can buy a few of these and stick them all over Oslo Spektrum =) http://blog.estimote.com/post/95382199590/nearables-are-here-introducing-estimote-stickers
Yep - that's one provider. Internal navigation. Navigate to "room 3/nearest loo/coffee/..."
It will be a lot of work testing this stuff the days ahead of Javazone, but why not — sound cool, so I'm in :-)

If you seriously want to try this for JavaZone 2015 (it would indeed be awesome), then I guess we could arrange it so that you could get access to some of the other conferences that take place in Spektrum to do some internal testing. To only test it the days before JavaZone 2015 AND have an update ready if something goes wrong seems impossible ;)
We'd definitely need access before. We'd need to look into how many beacons would be needed etc etc.
I think this would be seriously awesome - but a lot of work. Let's discuss it after this year's sessions are finished - but it can't wait until late spring next year - we'll need time!
I will make sure we have the budget to buy some beacons if this becomes a reality. I checked out the dates where we will be able to "scout and test" in spektrum, both february and june seems like an option :)
I guess this feature didn't make it to this years conference? :pensive:
Can't say that the iBeacon's I received when I ordered some for testing are stable and the SDK isn't great either - so I didn't focus on it.
Maybe when the technology gets a bit more mainstream.
