I guess you have NTFS partition on your HDD.. I face the same issue.. the
speeds fluctuate a lot and is never constant. I have a 4Mbps connection but the
download speeds I get is between 1Mbps - 3Mbps .. on the Laptop / PC it is
constantly 4Mbps with the same torrent.
I was advised to change to EXT4 to get better results... I'm doing so now and
will revert back if I see any improvements.

I just switched to Ext4 and I can see some improvements. I'm indeed getting a
better speed now.
Suggest you backup existing torrent data, format the drive again and try.
Do remember to turn off transmission prior to this step and if possible do a
factory reset. What settings are you using on transmission... those too might
make a lot of difference. Let me know and I'll see if I can help you optimise.

First off all my native language is not english so sorry for my mistakes :)
Im not using transmission, is off. Im downloading with qbittorrent on my
notebook. With utorrent is the same problem.
Ftp server is off too.
Im using a 2tb hdd from western digital almost full with data so i cant format
it. Instead for test i use a 32gb usb stick from corsair capable for 40 mb at
least. Usb 3.0 both devices.
Wiered connection is not in my in plan :)
Ext4 or NTFS has the same performance for me...
10x in advance

I'm sorry I thought you were using transmission and were downloading directly
on to a hard drive that's connected to the router.
So if I'm to understand correctly, you are using a torrent client on your
notebook but downloading to the 2TB hard drive that is connected to the router?
If this is the case, I'm afraid I will not have a solution for you. But I can
tell you that downloading torrent over a network drive will give you extremely
slow speeds. I have seen this happen in the past with me as well. uTorrent or
other torrent clients are configured to save files natively and not on a
networked drive. I may be wrong though and will look for better judgement.

Yes thats correct. I map the drive wit A: and downloading on it with a torrent
client under windows.
For transmission i tried last days but i cant get it work or im doing something
wrong, i cant acces that web control interface..

You must understand that the router - no NAS. Recording on USB-drive and using
WiFi heavily loads the CPU.

In order to use transmission, I would suggest using a freshly formatted drive.
Format it to EXT4 and then plug it in. Ensure that transmission if OFF from the
USB Applications.
Go to USB Applications and from Network Neighbourhood Share create a folder
named "transmission" (without the quotes of course).
Now go back to Common Settings, switch ON transmission and then click apply.
Hope this helps.

I know that is not powerfull like a NAS, i will buy one in the future but for
now is ok like that. When downloading on atached HDD the CPU is somewere at
80-85 % indeed is to much for CPU as u say.
With transmission i will try but not today, anyway is about 1 Mb/s less or more
on download speed. I can live with that.
Thanx for all.
