no VPN in Access Point Mode #1414

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Turn on Access Point Mode (AP) behind another Router; because the RT-N56U
does have not a DSL modem
2. The VPN-Server part on the GUI is away

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I want to configure my openvpn-server behind another router.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
RT-N56U 3.4.3.9-091

Can i start the OPENVPN-Server manually by using a script ?
But i think it would be better if i can configure in the GUI.

Thank you for your help.

Bye

Manu

VPN can not work in AP mode, because all traffic originating from WAN,
including VPN requests, will be blocked by the firewall of the DSL modem. Find
out how to configure your DSL modem and set it completely to "Bridge" mode,
including deactivating of firewall, NAT and DHCP (all on your own risk, of
course - if misconfigured, you might need support from your ISP to get your
connection work again). Then set your RT-N56U to Wireless Router Mode. You
might need to enter your login data you recieved from your ISP together with
your contract.

VPN client can work in AP mode... But ulysses.homer.1960 is right. It is better
to configure your RT-N56U as router.

Yes, you can.
