Is it broken? Or what? #1468

Hi,

I hope to have a clue about what's happened to my rt n65u...

A couple of days ago the router suddenly "bricked" itself.
It was working fine, I wasn't even at home and all the leds shutted down and
only the "power led" still on.

I tried the firmware restore procedure multiple times with no success:
- I can make the router boot in rescue mode with the power led blinking.
- I can connect the router to my windows pc
- I can start the restoration procedure...
At this point, around 40/50% of the procedure, the router "disconnect" from the
pc [windows says "lan cable disconnected"], the app says "ok, the procedure
finished successfully"... but the router keep the power led on and nothing
happens.

I tried this procedure a dozen times but looks like it just doesn't work.

Well, I suppose it an hardware problem [maybe the flash memory is broken/gone?].

Any clue or suggestions?
Any more tests to do?

This firmware is awesome so I've already bought another one while I'm trying to
figure out if it's time for the funeral or not...

I have successfully complete the restore using the oldest original firmware
from the asus site.

After installing your custom firmware [not the latest one that gives me
problems] and loading the backup of the configuration the router worked for
around 15/20 minutes... then it just crashed again. No connectivity, no samba,
no ping... leds stills on but the router is dead.
Well... I thought that maybe it's just a crash... I shutted down the router
unplugging the ac and BAM! No boot... The router is again bricked, just the
power led is on...

I think it's a major hardware fault...

Thank you for all the answers.

The router was gone, dunno why.
I've ha some trouble with correct port forwarding in the latest custom
firmware, gone back to the "81" version and it's all very good again.
