Hello, may it be possible to support device tracking native: https://www.home-assistant.io/integrations/device_tracker/

to determine if the car is at home.

Thx

Would this use Wi-Fi and/or Bluetooth (via a ”Bluetooth Proxy” in ESPHome as reciever?)?

How would one add logic to difference between a car arriving or leaving compared to WiCAN just going to sleep or dying when loosing power if the car cuts power to the OBD-2 port?

You can kind of partially already achieve this via WiFi if have for example a Unifi WiFi setup you add an fake user account in Home Assistant and then add the Unifi entity for the device, but thw problem is that is goes offline when cut power and then Home Assistant translate that as ”away”.

I'm not entirely sure, I was thining just based on the WiFi connection, cars never cut power to the OBD-2 port, so it would just be sleep mode that is the only issue, but I have an EV that just turns on the DCDC charger to keep 12v topped up, so not a massive issue there for me.

I think will just have to base it off WiFi, and if its not reliable for some because because of sleep mode triggering they won't be ab;e to use it reliably, at least untill we can come up with a better approach
