I've done some of my own experiments with Arora and <audio>, mostly in my own
<audio>
powered project, by chance I found out what's happening.
I don't get audio in w32.
I do get audio in Linux (Ubuntu), but...
In Linux, given a choice of either ogg or m4a (choice offered by use of the
<source>
tag, Arora chose the m4a, which I found odd.
I think I've tested in OSX and received no audio either. Don't quote me on that.

just updated to 0.7.1 in Ubuntu. <audio> is now non-working. I receive a
"stalled" response trying to load
any <audio> elem

moztw's audioplayer works fine here (Arora-git built on Mandriva 2009.1 against
Qt 4.5.2)

Same here, audio is working (Arora git against 4.5.2; but not the slider)
Still don't see video support at all here

I still get no audio with the build of Arora coming through the Ubuntu repos.

I got audio coming through on my Vanilla Kubuntu Karmic AMD64 with the repo
version of Arora (0.8). The
only thing is that it seems to play about 2 seconds... then pause for 10
seconds... then play 2 more and
so on. Occasionally the sound driver will then crash, too. Video tag is kind of
similar playing a couple of
seconds, then pausing...

No problems (everything works here properly - albumart, controls, audio, no
pauses) with Arora 0.8.0
(from backports) on Kubuntu 9.04, QT 4.5.1, KDE 4.3 RC3 on x86_64.

Phonon-xine doesn't support video playback. Should work with
Phonon-gstreamer...At
least works here (controls are broken though, but that's a QtWebkit issue).

*Phonon-xine doesn't support video playback through video tag yet.

Too bad phonon-xine has to be the default for me because phonon-gstreamer
doesn't
support selectable audio and subtitle streams yet. (I watch a lot of anime and
foreign films)

I confirm that it wirks with qt 4.6.0 beta1
Not all the controls look as they should, but audio works!
Couldn't look at the firefox demo videos, though:

ok, looks like the Qt version in Ubuntu Karmic is 4.5.x. When that gets
updated, I will
try Arora again.
If someone can list the package I need to install, I'll do that, but I couldn't
easily
see it in synaptic.

Qt 4.5.2
KDE 4.3.4
Kubuntu 9.10
controls, sound, everything looks good.

Same here:
Gentoo Linux amd64
arora 0.10.2-r1
qt 4.6.2
phonon-4.3.80-r1
audio works fine, video doesn't. Does this have to do with build options? It
seemed to be
working for some people.

does anyone know which part of arora/qt-webkit/phonon/underlying codecs is
responsible
for theora decoding? As this is still not working here, I assume this has to do
with build
options. Before trying random things, I'd like to know at least a vague
direction.
