improve new player experience

• Hook new players immediately, either by telling the story or perhaps by starting them right off on playing the game.
• Give a tutorial, playable if possible
• Reward the player for making it through the tutorial by giving them an immediate reward
• Make sure the player knows about future rewards for continued play
