Speech is cut off and first word is not accurately identified

Speech module listens for sounds when they are above a certain level and identifies that as speech.

This causes any sounds to trigger a listening cycle
This also means that music will affect when the listening cycle ends
Most importantly, this will cause the start of the first word to be cut off as it is the quietest

Ideas:

Use a push to talk wrist button (remote mic)
Start the recording early on, and use the noise level to edit out 1 second before the supposed "speech" starts
Then use the end of the noise level as an indicator as when the recording should end.
