Imo text micro blogging services like Masto, Akkoma and Misskey/Firefish derivatives should be grouped under one layer, as they really have the same basic usecase and all have support for the Mastodon API, which means in turn that some of these services run with same frontends,for example elk, or mobile clients, so there is not really that much of a point to include one but not the other
