add python3.8 to supported python versions #148

Two questions:

do you still want to support python2?
should it be built with a newer pypy version as well?

can you update to bionic or focal? i think we can drop python 2 support from master

Unfortunately, according to the travis documentation focal is not yet supported. Python 3.5 seems to be unsupported as well, according to the documentation.
