Project lead request

 hi there!

I am the core maintainer of the TailorDev/Watson project. We decided to switch to Jazzband to ease new contributors on-boarding as I did not have much time to actively maintain the project.

To give it back to the community, I transferred its ownership to JazzBand yesterday but lost maintainer permissions on the repository. Can I have such permissions back until we constitute an active maintainers team?

jezdez commented 2 months ago

I added you as project lead for now, but usually, we don't provide maintainer permissions, is there anything you need specifically?

jmaupetit commented 2 months ago

I think we'll need to update the project's URL once the github page is restored: image

And probably more things I cannot see right now as I didn't finished the migration process listed in https://github.com/jazzband/Watson/issues/509

And thank you for taking the time to update my role @jezdez :heart_hands:

I would strongly recommend you giving permission to merge to someone else too since @jmaupetit doesn't take (or have) the time to participate in the discussions in a timely manner as expected from a maintainer as he hasn't done anything in the repository in the past month.

@vladh seems to be more keen.

To clarify the situation: my issue is that no legacy contributor is willing to take part of the governance. Only new comers that did not contribute to the project in the past are asking for maintainer permissions. I'm uncomfortable with this. I should maybe accept it and give it up.

Hello everyone,

@teutat3s and myself (we created the https://github.com/pub-solar/Watson fork) are willing to do basic maintenance in this repository. We are not legacy contributors to watson however, so I totally understand @jmaupetit s' caution. I recommend everyone vets the history of any maintainers before you install their software on your machine, especiallly with forks, so do the same with us.

Otherwise, we'll just maintain our fork, with a probable rename in the future so we can distribute it in package managers without naming collisions. Thanks a bunch @jmaupetit for the work both on the software and on trying to do a proper handover.
