I think the user here is asking for:
1) capturing of specific HTML areas, as in Firebug's highlight. I think this
feature would be clunky and bloated, but it could be worth a try.
2) Automatically scroll a window so you can capture contents longer or wider
than your window, such as long posts, etc. While I think this would be
incredibly useful, I also think it might go against the way screenshots are
currently taken.

1) I was giving an example of Firebug's highlight, could you apply that to the
application or capture window? Another example would be Microsoft Syp++, using
the "finder tool" to capture the highlighted area.
2) I think it's still nice to have, once this tool implemented to only capture
certain area only (possible future request).
Thank you for the hard work in making this tool what it is today and available
for everyone.

For 1) I still don't know what you mean. For 2) I believe ShareX/mod both use
the current image from the display driver to take apart -- i.e. they don't
actually know what they're taking screenshots of, and could not scroll a
window, click something, etc. Assuming you want to use this for web pages,
there are browser plugins that do this.
Either way, 2 is a feature request for ShareX, not ShareXmod:
https://code.google.com/p/sharex/issues/ Please try to explain in different
words what you mean for 1.

Hello,
Yes, this has been a long time... Please delete the request, I found
Snagit does it.

I'm still curious as to what request 1 was in the first place. Even if we go
back to the premise of a smart capture, windows aren't made of DOM elements
like they are in browsers. I'm not sure what you'd expect to click to get the
"smart capture" parts. Which part does Snagit do, 1, or 2?
Anyhow, 2 is still possibly a feature request, I just don't know if mcored
would want to add it, or if it would conflict with the way things work now.
I'll mark this as accepted for now, and get his input on 2. In the meantime,
explaining 1 would be helpful.

Do you mean that you can hover an area with the mouse, and it will attempt to
guess the full area you're trying to snapshot? Does this only work with web
pages, or windows, too, or what? I appreciate the link, but I really don't want
to install another program.

Yes, it attempt to guess the area you're trying to snapshot. It work on
all (widnow, webpages, apps).

I guess I should give some example, like toolbar, titlebar, menu, etc.

Alrighty. I'll consider these both enhancement requests, and see what mcored
thinks. I like the ideas now that I understand them. Anyhow, thanks you
explaining. =]

Sorry, there is an excellent guide on how to precisely capture Shapes using
keyboard arrows and mouse:
https://code.google.com/p/sharex/wiki/CapturingShapes
This is like mopquill said beyond SoW for this FOSS project.

That means that if you're still interested in having this, I'd recommend
reporting them and seeing if flexy wants to add them to ShareX. Changes made in
ShareX will cascade into ShareXmod over time.
