How To?

I apparently have ShareX and ShareXMod on my system.  ShareXMod is performing 
well the way I want.  I know hat the ShareX is not up to date but how do I 
update it with screwing up operation and functionality of ShareXMod?  In the 
past it was updated and my ShareXMod stopped working.

It seems these two programs are separate and yet they are not.  It seems like I 
remember someone saying ShareX is basically ShareXMod Light.

ShareX is more up to date than ShareXmod currently, not the other way around. 
Many of the changes in both programs start in ShareX, and when it's stable, 
that code is merged into ShareXmod, and ShareXmod is updated with the changes. 
Basically, the two developers disagreed on what to do with the software, and 
the current ShareX developer (Jaex/flexy) was reverting the changes made by the 
current main ShareXmod developer (mcored). Mcored resolved to make a mod of it 
(as they'd both done the original code together) that allowed him to 
incorporate things like Greenshot. If we're doing our job and keeping ShareXmod 
up to date (which we're currently not; it fell behind), then ShareXmod is just 
ShareX with more features. But ShareX will likely update more often.

I wouldn't say either one is lighter than the other. They have comparable 
startup times and resource usage. I'm sure Jaex would disagree, but on any 
computer from the last 10 years, you won't notice any difference, and probably 
even if it is older than that.

Anyhow, ShareXmod was specifically made to have all its own configurations and 
whatnot, so they shouldn't conflict with each other. I'd suggest clearing all 
your configs and re-installing both. The order shouldn't matter (I don't think) 
as long as both are uninstalled before you start re-installing either.

As mopquill mentioned, they both can co-exist together; however you cannot 
install one while other is running. This is because GUID is the same. It is 
done that way to remind the user that it is recommended to use just one 
application. You will need -nohotkeys parameter to one of them in order to run 
one application without having hotkey conflicts.
