Outlook supports IMAP access, as described in https://support.office.com/en-us/article/POP-IMAP-and-SMTP-settings-for-Outlook-com-d088b986-291d-42b8-9564-9c414e2aa040
Yahoo has only partial support for IMAP, but there are other options see http://www.yahooimapsettings.com/
(Those instructions assume you run the Yahoo IMAP Connector on your client; if you run it on your VPS, obviously you will need to specify the IP address of the VPS.)
@p-b-west Did that help?
I haven't seen her recently, so i haven't had the chance to try it. I will when I see her.
I use my own VPS server for backup (except calendar), and have specified just my username, rather than full email address, in addition to port 993 on the server, and TLS security. This works well, and has avoided the gmail problem for me.
I had forgotten about this problem, and I tried to set up SMS Backup+ for a friend, using her Gmail account. Of course, it failed. I then tried to use Custom server, specifying first yahoo.com:993 and then outlook.com:993 with her respective yahoo and outlook accounts. Neither worked.
Has anyone else tried these servers? Have they been known to work? If so, with what particulars?
Thanks.
