I can't backup. Google authentication fails. I tried creating app password, still didn't work. There's no log from the app either.
Is there no way I can locally backup? I would rather prefer locally backing up everything and then upload them wherever after encrypting.
Please help.
@watchmen10 Same, I am in your shoes.
@watchmen10 @alittlebitofit I came across this repo while setting it up myself today, and it's working for me. AndroidPolice have an end-to-end guide on setting it up, here: https://www.androidpolice.com/2019/08/12/sms-backup-is-now-broken-due-to-gmails-api-changes-but-theres-a-workaround/ However the links in the readme have more detailed information for the google side of things.
Thanks!
Unless you've disabled 2-factor auth on your GMail account -- which I would strongly advise against -- then this may simply be an inability to authenticate. I would recommend creating a new app password for SMS Backup+ to use, rather than using your primary password without 2FA.
Failing that, please attach the log from the app so that I can investigate this further.
