soulpos doesn't work with lualatex #2

As mentioned here https://tex.stackexchange.com/q/579939/2388 soulpos errors with lualatex

! Undefined control sequence.
\ulp@put ...\ifcase \ulp@pos \hss \fi \pdfsavepos 
                                                  \protected@write \ulp@out ...

It works with luatex85, but it would be nice if it could be adapted so that using this package is no longer required.
