git shortlog -se gives a list of contributors and their email addresses, ordered alphabetically and prefixed with the number of commits.

Section 4(I) of the GNU FDL 1.3 protects the "History" section of the text. Seems like a "Contributors" or "Authors" subsection of a "History" section would be a good place to insert a generated list of authors. A list of authors is specifically mentioned as one thing to include in the "History" section of modified versions of an FDL-licensed document, so this is preferred over adding an Invariant Section.
