The US Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) publishes their cargo manifests for vessels unlading in :us: ports. The public data/engima portal translates this cargo data from bill of ladings into a vessel name-retrieval format.

The ship characteristics API and UI should be augmented to include this data.

This would really help to advance the situational awareness and maximum information transparency will accessing vessel details, I'm interested in investigating further.

What's the Level of effort required to implement this sort of change?

Integrating the Enigma API should be 8-12 hours, updating our API 1-2 hours, updating the UI 4-6 hours, and then storing the data in our own Database another 8-12.

So in total: 21-32 hours

👍 CCB has approved this effort, with the following caveat:

Please execute all tasks (Integrate the API, expose data selection the API and UI) first
If time remains, integrate storing the data in our database for caching and improved retreival

CCB and MDA PMO will require weekly status reports until complete.
