Tapatalk PlugIn Stopped Working / Error Code=0 #14

Open PatrickMcCrann opened 9 years ago

PatrickMcCrann commented 9 years ago

Been using the tapatalk plugin for a few months, and recently disabled incognito settings for tapatalk (they also recently made admin changes to the incognito function) and now, while I can login to the forums on my phone and view threads, I can't click on any particular topic due to an error message.

Here is the error message I get:

Error Domain=tapatalk Code=0 “Could not load file or assembly ‘HtmlAgilityPack, Version=1.4.6.0, Culture=neutral, PublicK…

Any help you can provide would be super appreciated!

I had the same problems with incognito. Used to be you could set the page as incognito and they would have to search for the exact forum name to find it. Now incognito makes the forum not show up on searches.

I also have had the problem you are experiencing. However I was never able to pin point the actual root cause. We are in the process of rewriting this entire functionality and building it into AF directly rather than a plugin or a separate module. I have no ETA as of yet but someone is working on it.

I have had to disable this on my websites until the new plugin is done. It was crashing my application in IIS multiple times a day randomly until I disable tapatalk. So my decision was do I want the whole website randomly down until I can reset via IIS or do I want mobile access. Easy choice but not a good one.

Sorry I don't have much better news than you're not alone. This is a big undertaking and finding people to do the work has been challenging. Good news is when its done it will be worlds better than the current plugin. We are working directly with tapatalk's developers and using their code to tie into AF. They have a .net version of the plugin ready to implement but it still needs worked into the AF code properly.

Epic..thanks for such a quick turnaround / response. I appreciate what you are doing...can only imagine how crazy it all is. I will keep my eyes open here for an update...so in the meantime I will disable Tapatalk plugin on my side...

Again, thanks!

Cool. I might have to do likewise. Have never been able to get it working properly, see next issue i just posted.

@supermansrf Any updates on this? You sounded pretty close to a solution last year...hoping something's come about...thanks in advance...

I'm sorry that I've been kinda distant lately. Life is hammering on me hard right now. Not much time for anything.

I do have good news though. One of the organizations I represent has assigned a budget to have tapatalk integration completely redesigned. I'm proud to say that Mitchell Sellers and his team will be doing this project. We are just now at the beginning of this project and I expect it to take 4-6 weeks to complete once they actually get started (maybe longer). But it is going to be built into AF directly. No additional modules required other than AF.

It will be able to be turned on and off via options so people aren't going to be forced to use Tapatalk but those who do will find that our new implementation will be state of the art.

I will keep things updated on the AF github once I have more details. In fact I may go ahead and make a post tonight just to let everyone know.

You can follow the progress on Active Forums directly. After the next release, Tapatalk won't be a separate module. It will be built into AF directly. There are some discussions there but not much yet. I have a conference call late tonight with Mitchell to discuss some plans and hurdles. Hopefully we will have some news shortly. FYI the AF Github page is https://github.com/activeforums/activeforums

Thank you. I have zero tech skills but I'd be willing to send coffee or similar brain food.

I'll hit GH, thanks!
