Disable sleep completely when lid is closed #26

I've a suggestion for an enhacement:
I've noticed that my macbook still goes to sleep when the lid is closed after
the specified time in system-preferences. I think this is a great idea.
But it would be nice to be able to activate NoSleep so it doesn't to to sleep
at all (lid open or closed). My idea was to add that behavior to NoSleep by
double-clicking the menubar item. If you only click it once it will only
prevent your computer from going to sleep when the lid is closed and still go
to sleep when it's been inactive for the specified time in system-preferences.
This could possible be implemented by creating an NSTask and using the "pmset
noidle" command.
Hope you like my idea and implement it soon! :)

Hi Pavel,

Could you please clarify how NoSleep 1.3.0 is designed to function:

A) Activating NoSleep disables sleep when the lid closes, but does not prevent
the system from sleeping after a period of inactivity as configured in the
Energy Saver preferences element.

OR

B) Activating NoSleep disables all sleeping. The system will not sleep when
the lid is close and it will not sleep after a period of inactivity even if
configured to do so in the Energy Saver preferences element.

From the wording of Yasser's report in issue #26 behaviour "A" is implied, but
in my own testing I've observed behaviour "B".

Cheers,
Zach

Hi Zach,

The designed behavior is "A".

Zach,

Check if you have something else preventing the sleep mode. Try to force a
sleep mode by clicking Apple -> Sleep.

Hi Pavel,

Thanks for your reply. Apple -> Sleep does indeed put the computer to sleep
even with NoSleep activated so as you suggest something else must be preventing
sleep. I will dig further.

Thanks very much for a great application!

Cheers,
Zach

Zach, did you ever find a solution to what was happening? I am currently also
experiencing behavior "B", but would much prefer behavior "A".....

I really dislike the "two-behaviour-mode" as it was made. Thought it was a
great idea initially, now I think it is (still) a great solution for someone
else or for some specific cases. But not for me... several times I have forgot
to set both the options and ended up with a massive download paused when the
battery was charged (as it was the case, from an ftp I use for work, and made
me angry with this option).

So, in order not to be a hater for the sake of disliking the brilliant effort
put on a brilliant app by the developer who even graciously give it away for
free (I have donated once and will donate again from time to time, it is a
great solution I use daily), and to be useful, I propose that there are 3
options: on battery, on AC adapter, both. Simple and effective.

Oh, I forgot to mention: this is THE BEST app ever to be made for a mac.
MacJournal and this app are must-haves. Period.
