Not happy with seperate A/C / Battery mode

I am using 1.3.0 on 10.8.2 on a 2012 MBP 13".

My problem is, that NoSleep differentiates between A/C and Battery mode. So it 
happens that NoSleep is activated while I am at the desk with power plugged in. 
Then I remove the power cord because I want to take the MacBook to another 
location, close the lid - and when I reopen the lid again, the MacBook is 
suspending or suspended.

This is because removing the power cord sets NoSleep to Battery mode in which 
it was not activated.

Of course I could click NoSleep again after removing power cord, but I think 
NoSleep should have an option to configure if I want to handle different power 
modes differently, because I simply forget about clicking NoSleep (again) after 
removing the power cord. It is because the last step before moving the MacBook 
is clicking NoSleep, then standing up, making the hardware-related things 
(power cord, close lid), take the MacBook and go... to toilet, for example ;-)

I, and I think many more users too, don't need to differentiate between power 
modes. That's like Windows, where you can set many different behaviors for many 
different states. First, I liked that, but it is confusing. "Which button do I 
have to press to hibernate? Ah, power button. Oh, no... only when plugged in... 
on battery, power button is shutdown..."

I want to have control in an easy way. I am comfortable with thinking about 
clicking NoSleep before closing the lid, if I want the MacBook to stay running. 
On battery or on A/C, I want the behavior to be the same.

Of course I could open preferences and set the behavior there for the other 
power mode, but that takes time, thats more clicks...

So my proposal is to add an additional checkbox in preferences, whether NoSleep 
should care about power modes or not, this way, no functionality is lost and 
more users get NoSleep to work the way they personally expect it to work.

And, even worse, came back from toilet (on 1.3.1 now), placed the MacBook back 
on the table with closed lid, plugged in the power cord with closed lid (easier 
to do because the cord comes from the right side of the table, so with open lid 
I would have to search blind behind the lid), and when I opened the lid, the 
MacBook was suspending.

I guess NoSleep was set to "Never sleep on Battery" but not to "Never sleep on 
AC". So what happened when plugging in the power cord was "Lid is closed, I am 
on AC power now, so sleep is allowed, so go to sleep". It is just confusing. 
Please, simple "Never sleep on lid closed" option, please!

Never noticed your post before. I am with you on this one! I have suggested a 
"three-behaviour" mode: on battery, on AC power, both (or classic). This would 
be the solution for me too!

Am I missing something here? All you have to do if you NEVER want your computer 
to sleep, regardless of AC/Battery is check the boxes next to BOTH AC Adapter 
and Battery-- you are not limited to just one or the other. If you select both, 
you will never have to worry about going into preferences or your toiling 
clicks again, as your computer will NEVER sleep!

Thank you for your answer, Donald. But in deed you are missing something. I 
don't want my computer to "never sleep". The computer should behave normal most 
of the time. But in some special situations, I want it to stay awake, even when 
I close the lid. Regardless of the power source. So when I want it to stay 
awake, I click the symbol. But then I mustn't change the power source 
(plug/unplug), or I will have to click the symbol again (what I regularly 
forget, which means the computer DOES sleep, and that stops running 
calculations etc. and takes a relatively long time). And to deactivate NoSleep 
I also have to remember to click the symbol twice - in everey power state - or 
I have to enter the preferences, or the computer will behave unexpected next 
time in other power mode.

This separation of settings may also be the cause for issue 28.
There, I have described a real-life case that used to happen to me.
I agree with Robert: there should be a "both mode" option.

Ok, I have compiled a "NoSleep Classic" version based on 1.3.1 without separate 
settings for AC and Battery.
This fixes all the problems for me with the latest versions.

Great news, "project member" (8), this would be even better as it unifies the 
possibilites for everyone's personal taste and ensures ongoing support and 
future updates without the need to compile it on one's one like"volanin".
