This breakfast smoothie is packed with vitamins and will get your day off to a flying start. It could hardly be simpler to make (though a blender or hand blender will make the process much easier): just chuck all the ingredients in the blender and whizz until you have a fruity, yoghurty glass of get-up-and-go. It’s a great breakfast if you’re on the go, as you can put it in a travel cup (just make sure you don’t walk down the street with a smoothie moustache). You can also try serving with a swirl of yoghurt or a spoonful of berries on top.
Serves: 1
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients
450g frozen berries, defrosted for 30 mins
1 banana, ripe, sliced
500ml orange juice
200ml natural yoghurt
Method
Place the berries, banana and a little of the orange juice in a blender and blitz until smooth.
Add half the remaining orange juice along with the yoghurt and blitz again.
Finally add the last of the orange juice, blitz to mix thoroughly, serve immediately.
Frozen fruit: such as strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cranberries, mango, pineapple, or banana. Frozen fruit adds a thick and creamy texture to the smoothie.
Fresh fruit: such as apple, orange, kiwi, peach, pear, or grapes. Fresh fruit adds natural sweetness and flavor to the smoothie.
Liquid: such as water, milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or juice. The amount of liquid you add will depend on how thick or thin you want your smoothie to be.
Yogurt: plain or flavored yogurt adds a creamy texture and tangy flavor to the smoothie.
Sweetener: if you want to add extra sweetness, you can use honey, maple syrup, agave nectar, or dates.
Add-ins: such as spinach, kale, avocado, chia seeds, flax seeds, nut butter, protein powder, or vanilla extract. Add-ins can add extra nutrition and flavor to your smoot
