Fixed runtime errors by adding type casts #36

Fixed these errors I had when running the application on 1.8 In case you have this error too this fixed it for me Please tell me if this is just a local thing I have because then I'd like to correct my project setup.

Just noticed this issue does not exist on another machine with another Eclipse workspace. Propably this was just my setup.
