Hi, Why don't you add these diodes https://github.com/watterott/SilentStepStick/blob/master/hardware/StepStick-Protector_v11.jpg directly on your board? I think it would help a lot the printing quality.

Why not just solder one between the stepper and the mechaduino motor.
