This idea works for me especially when considering the time frame we are under
I dont think this will work now because of the way our navigation works for example if they click lectures there is no page for lectures just individual pages. Do you think I should just have what is on the original but with our updated style?
Yeah, you have a point. Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean by "the original" (homepage?). If we do an exercise page, it would be "download this pdf" pdf link and a submit button to submit the homework. Not much point of doing that and at the same time, shouldn't be too much work. Let's clarify the homepage first.
Hi Sean, I have uploaded the D2L homepage (in case you haven't seen it before). https://github.com/jchan555s/COMP-1950-Final-Project-Unity1/blob/master/design/homepageV2.jpg We can have 3 columns. (1)Useful links - just make the same as some Resources. 2) News (pretend data comes from the forums I have in my meta) 3)Calendar (in list form like what is shown on upcoming due dates. So 3 columns of fake/manually entered data. What do you think?
I'm referring to http://www.bcitcomp.ca/comp1950/ . If thats how the exercise page works i feel like it should be renamed to homework and then just include the exercises plus homework for the respected session. I'm not sure what the d2l homepage is, we do not have to code this right?
What do you think is easiest? The d2l homepage (some courses at bcit use this as another portal to access course material), has just 3 columns of text and links. No javascript or any controls. Just 3 tables of made up text with borders. I kind of don't want to touch the homework since we didn't mention it anywhere and it didn't show up on the requirements. Let me know what is easiest.
Sorry Im not sure what im picking from ahah. I understand we only need one more page coded so if its a choice between what jeff currently has on his homepage or the d2l page then I would say jeffs homepage is easier
Oh, you mean the current 1950 homepage: http://bcitcomp.ca/comp1950/
( I didn't realize we actually had one hehe).
Yeah, that would be the easiest. Thanks!
Hi Sean, how do you think the homepage should look like? I'm not really sure about this one. It would have the same navigation, but what about the main window?
Could it have icons that hyperlink to the lecture page, exercises, quiz, resources? It would be redundant but maybe it helps people get to where they are going faster? Check out this UBC website: http://www.hr.ubc.ca/careers/ which recently started using HTML5.
I have done a mock up of the main content of what it could look like. On the link above, the icons have a nice subtle hover effect:
