get Unexpected response (401 Unauthorized) even after setcredentials

What steps will reproduce the problem?
In code I do 
String username="xxxxx";
            String password ="xxxx";

//Sardine sardine = SardineFactory.begin(username, password); 
            Sardine sardine = SardineFactory.begin();
            sardine.setCredentials(username, password);
String uri="http://webdevhost.domain//Testing.txt" ;
            if (sardine.exists(uri)) {   
                         System.out.println("file exists");  
              }  

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
it should print out "file exists". However got  401 Unauthorized error.
however I am albe to manul login by typing http directory in IE browser

What webdav server are you hitting?
the webdav is windows IIS  set with windows integratied authentication
What is in the server error logs?
com.googlecode.sardine.impl.SardineException: Unexpected response (401 
Unauthorized)
