JCPNEXT4-48: Should Community Seats be held for only one year? #42

Closed apastsya closed 7 years ago

Jira issue originally created by user pcurran:

If - as the current proposal states - Community Seats run for two years on a staggered basis there will only be one seat up for election each year. This might make it less likely that an incumbent would be replaced.

If the terms were for one year there would be two seats up for election each year. This might ensure greater competition at each election and increase the likelihood of incumbents being replaced, thereby giving others a chance to participate, and bringing a fresh perspective to the EC from time to time.

A majority of members that "faded away" in recent years were corporate, either elected or ratified (SAP at least no longer eligable to vote, if they miss more meetings they'd lose the seat before the new election) so not sure, if Community Members really caused more incumbent seats than those...?

We decided at the 8 July EC meeting that Community seats, like others, should run for two years.
