Frank reported:

the current SE run_star_extra writes out the entire profile (and some history quantities). a profile_columns.list can, and often does, have many more quantities than are needed to reconstruct the evolution for post-processing. it would be better, in my opinion, if the SE run_star_extra provided an option to write out only what was needed for the post-processing. modifying profile_columns.list to fit the current SE run_star_extras is an option i suppose but seems like a backwards approach.

Exactly how this enhancement should be implemented needs more discussion.
