Improved interface #183

OK, so I've thought about a few implementations that would make more
friendly (and useful) the interface.

It's drawn by hand, as I don't have time to make a photoshop mockup, but
still is easy to understand...

Firts, the main screen (first half of the image), starting from left to right:
- Add game button
- "Sort by" button (drop-down menu, possible values are Title, Date added
and Size)
- Filter (possibly alphabetically: A, B, C, D...; showing only games
starting with selected letter)
- Configuration
- Return to Wii Menu

Center of the screen:
"previous" button and "next button", another way to navigate the games. The
"Coverflow" interface is left without changes.

Bottom:
Scroll bar and button for switching list mode (coverflow/thumbnails)

Some info can be added at bottom screen, like # of games or free space on
drive. Useful, at least.

The bottom half of the image is the screen that appears when clicking on a
game. Little changes, only the "close button" on the top-right corner and
an option to download the game's cover if not found.

Well, only some suggestions. Comments are welcome.

PS. Maybe I'll do a mockup with photoshop later.

I like the idea of having a download cover button when a cover is missing on
the
load screen.

I've attached a mockup below. Hope it helps understand the ideas better.

Ooops, forgot to comment:
Please note that I've added another feature: change USB drive (pendrives at
bottom
left, labeled "1" and "2"). This could be useful if you have 2 USB drives
connected.
Clicking one of this icons should hide the current drive's games and load the
new
selected drive (possibly with a progress bar).

You could even populate the two drives connected at startup and save in memory
the
list of games available on the secondary drive, so it would only take few
seconds to
change from one to another. Not sure if this is possible, or if it would slow
down
the whole thing...

no offense but i think the nice looking mockups look a bit square and unnatural
right now the coverflow loader has a bit of a natural wii feel to it

in my opinion you should set the goal of the design to be as much like a native
wii
interface as possible to make the user experience seem like it belongs there

otherwise go for an apple/mac feel (again, the mockups dont look like a mac
interface)

or both (assuming you can find a decent balance between the two)

otherwise though good ideas for the concepts of what should be there

Like I said, comments are welcome. Actually, my photoshop skills (and hence my
graphic-designing skills) are very poor. My intention was to provide an example
of
what I was talking in the first comment, more than "redesigning" the interface.

Anyway, thank you very much for your comments.

UI Overhaul as of r511... hope you like. Like nemchik mentioned, we're trying
to keep
it a balance of 'Apple inspired' but with 'Wii roots'.
