Youtube app on AFTV Stick 4K can play VP9.2 HDR videos from youtube. Unsure about Vero 4K+ / OSMC, but it can play VP9 and it can play HDR videos. Not sure if like Nvidia Shield or if it can play VP9.2. Will test once AFTV Stick 4K VP9.2 HDR issues through youtube add-on are resolved.

Kodi 18.5

Enabled: Use MPEG-DASH Use for videos HDR Use for live streams

Video quality set to 2160p (4K)

Played Peru 8K HDR 60FPS (FUHD) 2017

Only one VP9 video stream present, vp9, 3840x2160

Played same video in youtube app.

Stats for nerds shows: Codecs: vp9.2(335) / opus(251)

I'm seeing the same thing on my Vero 4K+

Can you provide video ids, and debug logs if possible . https://kodi.wiki/view/Log_file

Not sure the status of HDR + Kodi for all platforms, but you should at least be seeing the vp9.2 stream.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXb3EKWsInQ Amazon Fire TV Stick 4k, same issue, HDR is ok on Youtube APP but not on add-on. log attached, https://paste.kodi.tv/wivuzoquci

Log from Amazon Fire Stick 4K https://paste.kodi.tv/ohavavawif

Log from Vero 4K+ https://paste.kodi.tv/hajemabofa

Log from Windows 64-bit https://paste.kodi.tv/odejiredat

I tried downloading the HDR stream using JDownloader 2 for playback on my computer, the Fire TV Stick 4K as well as the Vero 4K+. I also downloaded Kodi for Windows 64-bit to get some more data.

Using MPC-HC on the computer, I can get HDR. Mediainfo confirms the following:

When played back in Kodi in either the Windows, Fire TV Stick 4K or Vero 4K+, HDR mode is not enabled.

@roenthomas You mean it should be Kodi issue, Kodi can't support HDR playback?

Kodi can support HDR playback, but possibly not with this kind of file.
