Needed to modify some config to get this working. Here is some shit I pasted into the source code for later reference:

# osx config
./configure --with-ffmpegdir=/usr/local/cellar/ffmpeg/2.2.3/include --with-ffmpeglibdir=/usr/local/cellar/ffmpeg/2.2.3/lib
