X probably doesn't set the window height/width properly when ctr+f is invoked.

not true. this is just because of the window not being layered on top of the dock in OSX as described in this bug #7

nope its an issue. the bottom part of the full screen app (apx the height of the m-x bar) is overflowing the screen!
