Cannot disable notifications #7

Closed mehas closed 7 years ago

Because the bot is a user and not a channel, I can't mute it. How do I disable notifications?

mehas commented 7 years ago

Nevermind found manage reminders command, thank you!

What's the trick? I'm in a Slack for a client with 200 employees. I don’t know any of them and the almost daily notifications for birthdays ruin my workflow.

@mxcl This works for us pretty well.

You can always disable notifications on the bot channel, more info on how to do this here.

Neither of these seem to work for me. I typed show settings which opened a menu with "Do not disturb mode" as an option, which seems to have worked to disable messages from this bot. I think that should be the default and people can opt in.

@kiramclean with the realness 👍

@kiramclean and @EvangelosG I should clarify that the code in this repo is not affiliated in any way with https://birthdaybot.io/.

  1. Click on "Apps" on the top left menu (you may need to click on "Show more" before).
  2. Click on "BirthdayBot".
  3. Click on "Settings" under "Helpful Links" at the bottom of the page.
  4. Click on the "Configure reminders" button in front of "Birthday reminders" in the lower page of the page, uncheck everything, and save — I guess it’s somehow redundant with step 5, but better safe than sorry.
  5. Click on the "Activate DND" button, then "Okay".

Unfortunately I guess it won’t help for ignoring BirthdayBot messages within a channel.

@jbernardo95 Sorry, I just noticed your last comment…
