Release Process

For now this issue will be used to document the release process. Might be better to put this in a wiki page.

Do the following prior to creating the pull request on GitHub:

1. Update uffizi/init.py to increase the version number
2. Update README.md to add the release to the Change Log

• Create a new branch from the development branch for new enhancements.
  • The name should reflect the new feature.
  • Only one new feature per branch.
• When the feature is complete it should be merged back to the development branch.
  • In the comments for the commit, mention "close #xx" where "xx" is replaced with the issue number.
• Add the ready for release tag to the issue
• When a release is ready, create a new branch from the development branch.
  • Name the branch release-x.y.z where x is the major release number, y is the minor release number, and z is revision number.
• On the release branch, update:
  • The README.MD file with the release notes for the new version number. Include all bug fixes and enhancements in the release.
  • init.py to increase the version number.
• Merge the release branch into the main branch and into the development branch
• On GitHub, create a new release after the merge.
