This should include everything to have a live application:

Deploying source code
Creation of database
Creation of apache config (vhost, etc...)

I have try 3 hours to make it work with https://github.com/opscode-cookbooks/application, but I think that this is not the best way. It's require the usage of Chef roles and Chef types, that are concept we do not need for a single Chef-Solo server... Writing a receipt from scratch will be simpler and more interesting that using this...
