No character limit for names #3

Open jedidiahC opened 1 year ago

For very long character names (i.e. >30-40), should character limit be enforced? The new-exam command requires a partial match of student name. However, there are two very long names that have a common prefix, it may not be very user friendly to enter very long student names.

Team's Response

We appreciate your feedback, but we would like to clarify that this issue is not within the scope of this current iteration, as it is clearly listed in the planned enhancements.

We don't intend to limit the length of the name to respect all cultures. There are people from some cultures with extremely long name, such as Alexandr Vladimirovich Yurievsky-Tolstoy-Tolstoy-Miloslavsky-Petrushevsky-Shvedchikov-Dolgorukov-Golitsyn-Ushakov-Dashkov-Odoevsky-Vorontsov-Rostopchin-Stroganov-Shakhovskoy-Volkonsky-Zhukovsky-Viazemsky-Solovyov-Orlovsky. While we understand that very long student names may cause inconvenience, we have provided alternative solutions such as using view commands and Quick Access Buttons to help alleviate the issue.
