Sapna Gera: Open Source Response #43

Looking at open source from a development perspective, I believe that it is very beneficial. It can be used to develop applications faster, with higher quality components. This is because if the code is flawed or not working as intended, the developer community can identify and fix the problem quickly, whereas a single coder may take a while to see and fix the problem on their own. Open source software allows for sharing and collaborating of the code to develop better software. In my opinion, this sounds pretty good and is beneficial to the developers and the users, because the users know that they are getting the best product possible, and it will continue to grow and improve. The principle of open source is the same as any other scientific research. If researchers kept their methods closed to the public, we would not be able to see and verify how they reached the product and learn and grow from it. Which as a result, would make us develop slower. All in all I believe that open source is beneficial to everyone.
