that's my way of expressing it - just to not confuse it with size in pixels. I mean the linear size of a target in arcsec.
"linear size of a target" as in "this is how many arcseconds across the image is", or as in "do something to a region in tha image this many arcsec across" ? Not a big deal, by the way -- I am just trying to understand this from the user perspective.
I would say a bit of both - we cut the images according to this angular size, so "this is how many arcseconds across the image is", and then we go on with all the processing steps with the images having this angular size, so we "do something to a region in tha image this many arcsec across" - good point, though! it will be then here useful to add some option that the user can also have the second quotes you mention above - then one can deal with sub-regions as well!
what's an "angular physical size"? Usually I think of sizes as being either angular or physical, not both.
