Dashboard is very slow to load #263

I'm not sure if it ever actually loads because I'm not patient enough.

@jeffkaufman I realize this probably isn't a priority for you.

If you look at network requests you can see the first API call is 404ing, and then nothing happens after that.

the local checkout had gotten wedged; deleted it and things work now
