ERROR: The core thread recieved a SIGSEGV signal... #513

Describe your system:
 - Operating System (be specific): Puppy Arcade 10
 - Machine type (32-bit or 64-bit): 32
 - Mupen64Plus version: V1.5
 - Plugins used: the default ones?

Describe the problem:

When I try to open a rom all I get is an error message saying the following:

"The core thread recieved a SIGSEGV signal.
This means it tried to access protected memory.
Maybe you have set a wrong ucode for one of the plugins!"

What does it mean by ucode? I have tried changing the plugins (graphics, audio
etc...) and changing their various configurations a bit but to no avail.

Here are some that I've tried that have been suggested before:
- Colour Buffer Depth
- Depth Buffer
- N64 Native Resolution

Please provide any additional information below.

This seems to be a common problem from what I've read already but haven't yet
found a solution, and I haven't found anything on this site yet.

Any ideas?
