I just tried this fork and it installed fine.
@frankiejol Hmm, it doesn't for me. I tested it on a second machine too and same issue (on Big Sur)
I am sorry I didn't specify, this on runs on Catalina.
I see. It could do with the default binaries Apple provides or something. Thus, I believe this pull request should be merged to the main branch. @jeffreywildman It also maintains backwards compatibility so after the change it will still work on Catalina.
ok, I am sorry I may have been misguiding here. When I tried the original package by @jeffreywildman , it didn't work. Then I tried the fork by @Krish-sysadmin it installed fine. My guess is @Krish-sysadmin updated the libvirt-python library to 7.6.0.
Oh, that's what you meant. Nevermind, I misunderstood. Yes, my fork works but the original doesn't so I'd like this commits merged to the main repo
Closing, as virt-manager recipe has since been merged into homebrew-core and updated.
When attempting to install virt-manager and virt-viewer there is an issue which a lot of users seem to be facing. I found a fix for this - just upgrading the libvirt-python version in virt-manager.rb (post installation is /usr/local/Homebrew/Library/Taps/jeffreywildman/homebrew-virt-manager/virt-manager.rb) and changing the SHA256 or there will be a mismatch. This fixes this issue. Furthermore, if post installation a user runs
virt-manager -c "qemu:///session" --no-fork
and gets the error(virt-manager:14339): GLib-GIO-ERROR **:: No GSettings schemas are installed on the system
they must make sure that
/usr/local/share
is not missing from XDG_DATA_DIRS. This has been added to the README's FAQs too.@jeffreywildman
