Make repo public (maybe on github) and use readthedocs.org for hosting docs. I see no point in repo being private. Yes/No/Dead cat
No, as soon as you release something under a license it is irrevocable. If someone downloaded the MIT license version, that's it.
If you want to do some more research, let's just put it on Github without new license (that is, we keep copyright for now) and add a license later.

I used MIT previously for small things. OK? If not I guess GPL is a good default, just seems a bit overkill for a 'script' :)
