Poke around a bit in the workflow run at https://github.com/jelaiw/blog/actions/runs/9924993623/job/27416915769, looks like GitHub Pages is on version 2.5.1 for minima theme -- skins support was added for minima 3.0??

At any rate, followed the wrong instructions. See https://github.com/jekyll/minima/blob/v2.5.1/README.md for what corresponds to version 2.5.1.
