The player won't switch between landscape and vertical view. If app is launched in vertical, and one tries to play a video, the video will play in vertical and zoomed in [1]. Once in this zoomed in mode, it's impossible to get out of it, or do anything other than change episodes, stop/skip, and scrub; app has to be restarted. Changing the phone's orientation (which usually changes the app's view) doesn't have any effect. The only way to view the video in landscape, is to restart the app and launch it while the phone is in landscape, otherwise it's not possible. If having launched the app in landscape and viewing in landscape, when leaving the video, it returns to vertical (which means the app has to be restarted in landscape if one wishes to view a different video in landscape). Additionally, when in this post-landscape vertical state, the posters are suddenly 2x bigger (while still overlapping) [2].

Previously, when closing the app while a video was playing, the video and audio would stop; now, the audio continues. Usually, when apps do this (other music or video apps), when swipping down, there is a media viewer which indicates what's playing, what's the progress, where it's coming from, and a play/pause button. In this new version Swiftfin that's not the case, and when closing the app, the audio will continue, and you can only stop it by returning in the app and pausing the video (or force shutting it down).
All of the above make the app very difficult to impossible to use in its current state.
